Improve Your Putting with the Eagle Eye Putting Device
The Patent Pending Eagle Eye Putting Trainer is a laser aiming device that improves your putting.
Laser beams, emitted from the mounting board, reflect off mirrors attached to the putter face and return to the board. Where they hit on the board shows if your putter face is aligned to the target, or not.
This device helps you improve your putting and become a better player:
- You can check your setup and ensure you are aiming your putter at the target.
- It helps you determine if your putter remains on the target when striking the ball.
- You can determine the loft on your putter face.
- Any aiming errors are magnified, enabling you to be more precise in your putting.
- You can try many different putters and putter grips to determine what works best for you.
- The target is much smaller than a standard golf hole, which will make a standard golf cup much easier to hit, improving your putting confidence.
All these add up to build confidence in your putting, and most importantly, to shooting lower scores!
Device Operation
Depressing Button A of the remote switch (20) turns on dual laser beams (15) which are emitted from the electronics enclosure (11). The laser beams strike a mirror (14) mounted to the putter face (12) and are reflected back (16) to the mounting board (10).
Where the beams hit the board (19) indicate where the putter face is aimed.
Keep the reflected beams within the vertical stripes (17) and your putter is aimed at the target (18). The target is a small hole in the board that has slightly more than 1/4″ clearance on each side of the golf ball (13). The opening is only 2.3″ wide, while the width of the plastic strike plate is the width of a golf hole (4.25″).
The lasers run on a single 9V battery.
Practice rolling putts through the hole and you will become a much better putter!
Putter Loft
Determine putter loft by placing your putter at a 4 foot distance from the board. Where the reflected laser beams strike the board indicates the loft on the putter.
The loft of the putter pictured is slightly more than 5°. But the effective loft can be much different. For instance, in the video below, the same putter is being used, but due to how the putter is being held, the effective loft is about 2.5°.
Knowing the putter loft, mirror wedges can be attached to the putter face that will enable the golfer to practice his/her putting aiming and stroke from longer distances.
Law of Reflection
Due to the law of reflection, any putter aiming misalignments are doubled. This enables a golfer to try many different putters to determine which putter styles and grips result in the best and most consistent aiming of the putter face.
